Finding Hope After Hitting Rock Bottom: Tom's Story
Almost ten years ago, Tom McG. was a desperate man suffering in an abyss of punishing alcoholism. He had lost everything — his family, his job, and all hope for the future.
Then came a pivotal meeting with Bev Thomson, General Manager of St. Stephen's House of London. Bev told Tom about the 12-step recovery program of Alcoholics Anonymous and invited him to come live at St. Stephen's House to embrace addiction recovery.
"I nervously did," Tom recalls. It was one of the most important decisions of his life.
At St. Stephen's House, Tom found what he had been missing: hope, a sense of community, and unwavering support. The structured environment gave him the stability he needed. The 12-step program gave him a framework for understanding his addiction. And the other residents and volunteers gave him a family.
Today, Tom lives a sober life, one day at a time. He has a job. And most importantly, he shares loving relationships with his four beautiful children.
"Thanks, St. Stephen's House!" Tom says simply. Those three words carry the weight of a life transformed.
